Quick guide for Goniometry documentation and analysis process
Explain the process clearly, receive consent to begin
Assist patient to gravity resisted position for the muscle group
Unaffected/less affected side first
Demo movement passively
Ask Patient to complete movement actively, repeat x2
If able to move through full range G3, advance to G4 adding slight resistant, repeat x2
If able to move through full range G4, advance to G5 adding max resistant, repeat x2
Proceed to affected side
If unable to move through full range G3, move to G2 position (gravity eliminated, demo movement passively and actively), repeat x1
If unable to move through full range G2, decide if G1 or G1+ by palpation.
If able to move through full range G2, add v v slight resistant, repeat x2.
Report finding to patient
